Youth to Lourdes 2018 - Our next meeting will be on Sunday 28th January at 1.30pm at the St. Mirin’s Chaplaincy Center, 45 High Street, Paisley. There are still some places available. Applicants should be in the present s3 to s6. The pilgrimage departs for Lourdes on Thursday 28th June 2018. We will arrive back in Scotland on Friday 6th July 2018. The cost is £550.00. The deposit to reserve a place is £60.

ANN ARBOR—New research on how birth control pills affect the level of hormones in women's blood serum has found much higher levels of hormones in women who take birth control pills compared to women who don't. The University of Michigan study was motivated by evidence that breast cancer risk increases with hormonal exposure. The authors examined seven commonly prescribed birth control pills and found that four formulations more than quadruple levels of progestin, a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone, and another formulation resulted in a 40 percent higher exposure to ethinyl estradiol, a synthetic version of estrogen.
The former Northern Ireland footballer Philip Mulryne has been ordained a Roman Catholic priest in the Dominican Order. Father Mulryne, who is reported to have once earned £600,000 a year, has also taken a vow of poverty. Philip Mulryne prostrate as he was ordained a priest in Dublin on Saturday. He was ordained in Dublin on Saturday by Archbishop Joseph Augustine Di Noia, who had travelled from Rome for the ceremony. Fr Mulryne had been ordained a deacon in October last year.

VATICAN CITY – Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta of Panama officially announced the dates of the next World Youth Day on Friday (Jan. 20), which is set to take place in January, rather than July as is usual, due to the weather. TOP STORIES World Youth Day Panama will take place January 2019. He made the announcement during a news conference in the country's capital, Panama City, during which he also reiterated the gratitude of the Panamanian Church to Pope Francis for choosing Panama to host WYD in 2019. According to a communique from the archdiocese, the bishop explained that the decision to choose Jan. 22-27 for the dates of the gathering, rather than holding it in July as is traditionally done, was done for reasons primarily linked to the climate and weather.
