With sadness, we announce that Fr Neil Sharp passed away overnight in Arica, Chile.

Fr Neil was born in Greenock in 1945. After studying at St Peter's Seminary in Cardross, he was ordained to the Priesthood on 29th June 1970, in St Mungo's in Greenock.

He served as a Curate at St Margaret’s in Johnstone from 1970–1974, then in St Patrick’s in Greenock from 1974–1978. 

Since 1979, he and his brother Fr Jim Sharp have served the People of God in Arica, Chile, while remaining priests of the Diocese of Paisley.

As a diocesan family, we offer our prayers and condolences to Fr Jim and his family, and we pray for Fr Neil’s eternal rest.
