After a break of several years because of the pandemic, the weekend of 26-27 August 2023 sees the return of our Diocesan Fundraising Appeal in our parishes.
The Friends Appeal of some years back continues to bring in over £50,000 annually to our diocese and helps with costs for the formation of our seminarians; the care of our retired priests; and the provision of special needs religious education. It also helps with costs arising from our national commitmemts in the areas of safeguarding, the national tribunal and our education, politics and media offices.
Due to the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, we held back this appeal for three years.
While Bishop Keenan is aware of the very real ongoing pressures faced by many, he recognises that no time is ever the ‘right time’ for making an appeal. He hopes this initiative can at least allow those fortunate enough to afford increasing their offering to do so.
Information packs will be available to explain each collection with the promise of annual updates to show how things are progressing.
Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
