Contract: Part-time, permanent with a 6-month probationary period
Start date: From May 2026
Working Hours: 9:00 – 17:00 (includes 1-hour unpaid lunch break), Monday to Wednesday (after the initial induction period), with flexibility required for meetings and emergencies outside normal hours. Flexibility will be remunerated or hours returned via TOIL.
Induction Period: For the initial 2–3 months, the successful candidate will work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, shadowing the Property Manager and Property Compliance Officer. Following the induction period, working days will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Equipment Provided: Shared departmental mobile phone and personal laptop computer.
About the Role
The Diocesan Property Department is seeking a proactive and organised Assistant Property Manager to join our team on a part-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Property Manager and the Property Compliance Officer, and to contribute to the effective management, maintenance, and compliance of diocesan properties throughout Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. The position provides a clear pathway for career progression, with the potential to assume the role of Property Manager upon the current manager’s retirement.
Main Responsibilities
To work in conjunction with and support the property manager on all property related matters, including projects and contractual matters, facilities management, repairs, maintenance & compliance of Diocesan Properties.
Attend all Property & Fabric and Finance Committee Meetings.
Respond to emergencies out with office hours if urgent.
Chair Property Meetings in the absence of the property manager.
Deputise in the absence of the property manager.
Key Skills & Requirements
Essential
Five years minimum experience in property management or a related field.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
High levels of integrity.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen to, and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and respond to emergencies as required.
Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate meetings and emergencies.
Competency in standard IT packages; willingness to use compliance databases and property management systems.
Full Driving Licence.
Advantageous
Knowledge of health & safety, fire risk assessments, and property compliance.
Ability to read technical drawings.
Shift Pattern & Coverage
After the initial induction period, the Assistant Property Manager will work Monday to Wednesday, with required flexibility to swap working days monthly to accommodate departmental meetings and ensure seamless departmental coverage. Occasional out-of-hours work is expected for emergency callouts, meetings, and events.
Career Progression
Upon successful completion of the probationary period and subject to performance, the Assistant Property Manager may be considered for progression to the Property Manager role when the current manager retires. Working hours and salary will be reviewed accordingly at that time.
