We would encourage you to consider the following intentions along with your own private prayers:
1. In thanksgiving for the graces & blessing, we have already received & for a further outpouring of graces upon our communities & nations. 2. For the protection of the unborn baby and mother - including those who work in the pro-life movement, especially those in Ireland campaigning to save the 8th. 3. For the souls in purgatory with no one to pray for them & for the salvation of all souls.
The recitation of the Angelus also referred to as the 'peace' prayer:-
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, etc...
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R. Be it done unto me according to Your Word.
Hail Mary, etc...
V. And the Word was made flesh,
R. And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary, etc...
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord, Your Grace into our hearts; that as we have known the incarnation of Christ, your Son by the message of an angel, so by His passion and cross we may be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ, our Lord.
Eternal Rest
Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
The Angelus has its origin in the 13th century in the recitation of three Hail Marys by the lay faithful when the evening bell was rung in the monasteries to announce the praying of Night Prayer or Compline.
