From Sunday 10th August to Tuesday 12th August, the Diocese of Paisley will be hosting a LOUDfence event to demonstrate our collective support and solidarity with those affected by all forms of abuse, both locally and throughout the world.
Between 10th and 12th August 2025, a fence will be placed at the front of Saint Mirin's Cathedral, where after 11am Mass, all will be invited to tie ribbons and/or leave messages of support as a public sign of solidarity, care & hope for all that has been lost through abuse. A LOUDfence craft workshop will also be held within the Cathedral Halls on Sunday 10thAugust, where people can create their own craft mementos to attach to the LOUDfence and talk in safety and confidence about ways we can reach out to those most affected by abuse and accompany them on their hopeful journey to healing and recovery. Crafting materials will be made available but please feel free to bring your own along and contribute in this very simple but personal way of demonstrating your support. Designated Listeners and members of the Diocesan Safeguarding Team will be present throughout the event to support, encourage and help. Refreshments and signposting literature will also be available in the Cathedral Halls.
As an everlasting symbol of care and compassion,Our Lady of Paisley, will be the patron Saint of the event with her icon used to demonstrate our commitment to"stand by"anyone affected by abuse and help bring them to her beloved care. This is a Diocesan outreach initiative working in collaboration with LOUDfence, but with its own local identity and purpose.
LOUDfence enables a church community to celebrate what they want to be - compassionate, supportive, transparent and truthful.
Please join us in showing our continued solidarity with all those affected by abuse.
