Every diocese or other particular church is to be divided into distinct parts or parishes. To foster pastoral care through common action, several neighbouring parishes can be joined into special groups, such as [deaneries].

There are three deaneries in the Diocese of Paisley, dedicated to St. Mirin, St. Mary and St. John the Evangelist.
