On the First Sunday of Lent, Bishop Keenan made the election of the catechumens and candidates who will be baptised and receive the other sacraments of initiation at Easter.
At the Rite of Election in St Mirin's Cathedral, the bishop made the election of 23 catechumens and candidates from eleven parishes around the Diocese of Paisley.
Receiving testimony from their sponsors, and in the presence of their clergy, catechsists and relatives, Bishop Keenan remarked, "On their testimony I, as bishop acting on behalf of the Church, make our election of you, choosing you to become full members of the People of God.
"In this acceptance by me and the Church I hope you
will understand and appreciate the deeper truth that God Himself has called and chosen you from all eternity and makes it known to in our presence today."
The people of God are asked to keep the catechumens and candidates in their prayers during this final, intense period of prayer and formation.
