Pope Francis has invited everyone to a day of prayer, fasting, and penance for peace.

The Holy Father has encouraged people of different Christian denominations, other religions, and all those who advocate for peace to participate as they see fit, on Friday 27th October 2023.

On the same day, an hour of prayer will be held at 6pm in St Peter's Square, Vatican City, with the goal of invoking peace for the world.

Bishop Keenan extends his gratitude to the clergy, religious and lay faithful who responded to Cardinal Pizzaballa's request for a day of prayer and fasting on Tuesday 17th October. He notes that the Holy Father's request gives those who were unable to respond to the cardinal's request an opportunity to fast and pray for peace on 27th October.
