On the Feast of the Holy Family, Bishop Keenan celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving to mark the closure of the parish of The Holy Family in Port Glasgow.

At Holy Mass, he announced that the parish of The Holy Family would be suppressed on Monday 29th December 2025, and that the church will close on the same date. On that date, the territory of the parish of The Holy Family will be divided between the parishes of St John the Baptist and St Francis of Assisi.
 
The announcement is a response to a proposal made to the bishop by the Parish Pastoral Council and follows a period of consultation at parish level. It also follows the bishop's consultation with his Council of Priests and College of Consultors.
