Synod of Bishops on Synodality. Following Pope Francis’ Solemn Mass in Rome to open the Process towards the Synod on Synodality, Bishop John invites you to the celebration of Holy Mass in St. Mirin’s Cathedral on Sunday 31 October at 12.00 noon to inaugurate the process at our local diocesan level. The Synodal process is a journey of the whole Church, listening to the Holy Spirit in every baptized voice in the Church’s family. Our Mass will have an opening session, time for reflection, liturgical prayers and the celebration of the Eucharist and will inaugurate in our diocese a consultation with the People of God which will conclude in our diocesan pre-Synodal Gathering around March 2022.

Following on from our Diocesan Synod and after consulting the Council of Priests, Bishop John has decided to re-constitute our Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) as the ordinary means of consultation with the lay faithful of the Diocese. Under authority of the Bishop, the DPC studies and weighs those matters which concern the pastoral works in the diocese, and proposes practical conclusions concerning them. The first meeting of the Diocesan Pastoral Council takes place in St. Mirin's Cathedral Hall on Saturday 27th November from 10am - 3.30pm. Each parish has been asked to nominate a representative on to this Council to ensure that it is fully representative of the whole diocese.
