Canon Jim was a contented man with a broad mind, sense of humour and down to earth style. He had a deep personal faith and devotion to Our Lady allied to a humble, gentle and kind personality which made him a popular parish priest wherever he served. He is still to this day fondly spoken of around the diocese, especially in Port Glasgow, even although he retired back in 1989.
He was a storyteller who loved to tell stories about the parishes and people he served, especially about Bishop Black, was always good company and never ceased to enjoy the company of fellow priests.
He will be sorely missed by everyone. May he rest in peace.
